Charlie Marshall has been in the lawn care business for most of his life. He became a Spring-Green franchise owner in 1997 and has grown his business into a lawn care powerhouse in the Washington D.C area. Charlie was kind enough to spend a few minutes with us regarding his years with Spring-Green:
SG: What did you do before you became a Spring-Green franchise owner?
Charlie: I worked in the industry for a company that sold products and equipment to lawn care companies and golf courses.
SG: What other types of franchises, or even non-franchises, did you look at?
Charlie: I only considered the lawn care business and looked at a few other franchises and also considered starting a non-franchised lawn care business.
SG: What “did it” for you, with regards to Spring –Green?
Charlie: While I knew a good bit about lawn care I also realized I knew very little about running a successful business and all of the things that went into it such as the operations, marketing and technology. Spring-Green offered proven systems for all of these things and gave me the confidence I needed to start working for myself.
SG: When you drive around your territory, and see all the beautiful lawns you are helping to maintain, how does it make you feel?
Charlie: I don’t have to drive far and more often it is a walk or run through the neighborhood, it is very gratifying to see our work contributing to the beauty of the neighborhood and our customers enjoyment of their lawns.
SG: If there was one thing you could tell a prospective franchise owner of Spring-Green, what would it be?
Charlie: There are few if any shortcuts to success, it takes hard work, commitment and a winning business plan. Spring-Green’s systems and support will give you the tools and knowledge you will need to compete in a lucrative and rewarding industry.
